Gonzales (.RiverCityCanada.com)

This is the newest member of the RiverCityCanada.com network. We found a place with a 2Mbit connection to the Internet that will let us install a computer for a reasonable cost. The office is also in a modern facility so it is reasonably secure and safe from disasters. The computer will run remote backup software plus have some Internet services. 

The most exciting part besides the security is the high speed connection. Downloads should just fly. That had a lot to do with the name of the computer.

The computer itself is nothing special. I used my old dual PII 300 system with just 384MB of RAM. I added a ATA133 IDE controller card (onboard IDE  is only ATA33) and two 160GB HD with 8MB caches. The drives were on sale which dictated the configuration. The system is running Windows Server software. This to was dictated by the backup software we wanted to use. The drives are mirrored with software RAID1.

The system is literally just a box. I have it booting without a keyboard or monitor. All it requires is a power cord and network connection. It can be managed using Terminal Services over the network.
