Lordbyron (.RiverCityCanada.com)This computer is a quad PPro 200. It's a Compaq Proliant that I bought on eBay for a couple of hundred bucks. It makes perfect web server and there are lots of small threads happening. Here is a rare screen shot of six processors from two computers. I was logged onto a dual system and connected to the quad with terminal server. Windows 2000 ServerThis server is running with a bare bones Windows 2000 Server installation. It's the master DNS for the domains I administer, plus it has several virtual web servers running. I choose Windows 2000 mostly because of the support for Frontpage extensions and the virtual web servers. That's all this computer does, serve up web pages. This computer is also connected to a remote Win2000 network through a second NIC. The PDC for the Win2000 network is a Linux/Samba combination. While the Linux system can be administered remotely using Webmin, I can't see any of the Win2000 systems through the Linux system. However, I can contact lordbyron remotely using terminal server. Since lordbyron is connected to the Win2000 network, I can administer all the Win2000 systems from lordbyron using Computer Management. Overall Observations and CommentsAn interesting thing is the cooperation between Microsoft DNS and BIND running on Linux, While DNS is the master of most of the zones and BIND a slave server, I had it switched at one time. Works well either way. I also use BIND as a name server for Windows 2000 workstations in a Windows domain (Samba as the PDC). They dynamical register their name and IP with the BIND server. The previous Lordbyron.
