In addition to land surveying, I am under contract to maintain two small network systems and several web sites. Duties include computer upgrading and maintenance, installation of operating systems, backup of data, installation of software, training of staff when required, maintenance of web sites, both Intranet and Internet, maintenance of e-mail servers and domain registration. Operating systems include Windows 95/98/NT4/2000, Windows NT/2000 Server and Linux. Professional ActivitiesI currently serve on several committees for the Saskatchewan Land Surveyors Association, including chairman of the Practice Committee, Annual General Meeting committee, and a couple of ad hoc committees. The Practice Committee has just completed a $20,000 cost analysis study for the association. In addition I sit on the Board of Examiners and set the Practical Computation Exam for the Association. I also sit as a representative of the Saskatchewan Land Surveyors Association on the Western Canadian Board of Examiners for Land Surveyors. Education
Selection of Software Developed
Web Sites Developed and Maintained
Other Activities (Hobbies)Repair and maintenance of computer systems. Building computer systems from used parts for family and friends. Development and maintenance of network systems and web sites on both Linux Apache and Windows NT IIS systems. I also maintain a couple of name servers on the internet. This is new in 2000. It is normally the responsibility of large organizations like universities or ISP's. With Internet domain name registration changing to an automated system and the huge demand for domain names, it's difficult to find an organization that's willing and able to keep up with the changes. I had a couple of computers connected to the Internet so I solved the problem by setting up name servers of my own. Last updated: Sunday, September 03, 2006 |
